“Leave Now” — Netanyahu’s Death Sentence to Gaza

September 8, 2025

“Leave now.”

That’s the order Benjamin Netanyahu issued to Gaza City residents this week. It’s an order that defies reality, because there is nowhere left to go.

Gaza has been under siege for nearly a year. Every so-called “safe zone” Israel designates has turned into a killing field. The United Nations has warned repeatedly: no safe zones exist in Gaza. Yet Netanyahu insists civilians “leave” before Israel escalates its bombardment. It’s not an evacuation order. It’s a death sentence.

A City Reduced to Rubble

In recent days, Israeli forces have destroyed at least 50 high-rise buildings in Gaza City. The Al-Ruya Tower, home to 24 apartments, a clinic, and a gym, was obliterated. Families already displaced, living in makeshift tents nearby, were forced to flee again as the structure came crashing down.

On Saturday alone, 67 people were killed while seeking food or shelter. Israel even struck areas it had designated “safe.”

According to a BBC investigation, one such zone was bombed 97 times between May and August, killing more than 550 people. This makes clear that “safe zones” are a fiction used for propaganda, zones set up to be violated.

Collapse of Survival Systems

Conditions inside Gaza are beyond catastrophic.

  • Aid deliveries have been blocked since March.

  • Eighty percent of community kitchens have no food left.

  • Water facilities have collapsed.

  • Mothers feed their children grass, animal fodder, or nothing at all.

Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz spelled out the intentions with chilling clarity: “A mighty hurricane will hit the skies of Gaza City today, and the roofs of the terror towers will shake… Gaza will be destroyed and you will be annihilated.”

This is the language of genocide, not defense.

The United States’ Complicity

And yet, despite overwhelming evidence and warnings from international bodies, U.S. political leaders continue to send weapons, block ceasefire resolutions, and offer cover for these crimes. Their silence and complicity are not accidental, they are bought.

AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, has spent tens of millions of dollars to ensure members of Congress stay loyal to Israel’s war machine, no matter the human cost.

This is why lawmakers who might otherwise speak out against mass atrocity remain silent. It’s why votes for weapons flow easily, even as images of starving children fill our screens.

Americans Are Waking Up

But the tide is shifting. Polling shows that a plurality of Americans now recognize what is happening in Gaza as genocide. Young people, in particular, see through Israel’s propaganda and AIPAC’s influence.

The reality is unavoidable: being pro-genocide is not just immoral, it’s bad politics.

Why Track AIPAC Exists

That’s why we built Track AIPAC.

We exist to:

  • Expose the lawmakers taking AIPAC’s money.

  • Organize against them in their districts.

  • Build the power to elect leaders who stand with humanity, not genocide.

Together, we are making it politically intolerable to be bought by AIPAC.

Netanyahu can command people to “leave now,” but the world sees the truth: there is nowhere left to go. The only way out is through political courage—ending U.S. complicity, cutting off the weapons, and finally holding Israel accountable for its crimes.

And that starts here at home, by breaking AIPAC’s grip on Congress.
