MAGA’s Latest Attack: Why They’re Trying to Silence Rashida Tlaib

September 6, 2025

The war-mongering, AIPAC-funded Republican Buddy Carter is once again leading the charge to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib — the only Palestinian-American in Congress. His goal is clear: silence her voice for Palestinian liberation and punish her for telling the truth about U.S. complicity in genocide.

Why Rashida Is Being Targeted

This latest censure effort comes in direct response to Rashida’s speech at the People’s Conference for Palestine in her home city of Detroit. There, she didn’t hold back. She called out the majority of her colleagues in Congress who continue to vote for more weapons and aid to Israel while ignoring the overwhelming majority of Americans demanding an arms embargo.

Her words struck a nerve — because they revealed the truth. The U.S. government has supplied bombs that level hospitals and schools in Gaza while simultaneously cutting food assistance and healthcare for Americans at home. Rashida pointed out the hypocrisy: a government that devalues human life abroad also abandons it at home.

Detroit’s Legacy of Resistance

Detroit, the largest majority-Black city in the country, has long been a cradle of civil rights and social justice movements. Residents there know firsthand what it means to face militarization on their own streets. That legacy of resistance is the foundation for Rashida’s fight today.

It’s no surprise that she connects the dots between militarized violence abroad and the stripping away of rights and resources here at home. And it’s exactly why her voice is so threatening to the political establishment that profits from endless war.

A Movement They Can’t Censure

They can censure Rashida, but they can’t censure a movement. Across the country this summer, Americans showed up at town halls and demanded their representatives stop funding genocide.

And we’re seeing results:

  • More Democrats are rejecting AIPAC’s money.

  • More Democrats are supporting policies to restrict U.S. military aid to Israel.

Yet far too many lawmakers remain completely out of touch. Just last week, the Democratic National Committee voted down a resolution for an arms embargo — despite overwhelming public support. Polling from Quinnipiac University shows:

  • 75% of Democratic voters oppose sending more military aid to Israel.

  • 60% of all voters agree.

  • 77% of Democrats and half of all U.S. voters say Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.

The people are demanding justice. Congress is refusing to listen.

Why We Stand With Rashida

At Citizens Against AIPAC Corruption, we know real change comes from organizing — from communities pushing institutions to do what’s right. That’s why we stand firmly with Rashida Tlaib today.

Her voice is vital, but this fight is bigger than one leader. It’s about defending human rights at home and abroad, ending U.S. complicity in genocide, and rejecting the corrupting influence of AIPAC money in our politics.

They can bully us. They can attack us. They can lie about us. But they can’t run from the truth.

Take Action

If we want a future where our government values human life instead of war profits, we must fight back. That starts by supporting leaders like Rashida who are fearless in the face of political attacks.
